Christian Tae Kwon Do is alive and well in Swift Current!

It has been an absolute blessing to begin teaching kids Tae Kwon Do and about Jesus. As our doors opened on February 7, children have been joining our ranks each week, with some curious onlookers testing the waters before jumping in.

Being supported by a church, and being prayed for by the elders of that church, has meant a lot to me and to my wife as we listen to God’s call in our lives.  As the Apostle Paul says, “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31

What things is Paul talking about?

He is writing this letter to believers, so we may be reminded that “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God” (v14). And he was talking about how are suffering cannot be compared to His coming glory. He reminds us that all of creation groans as in the pain of childbirth.

This is important when we look at our little ministry on the Prairie. Any ministry will be met with those that will judge from a place of ignorance or fear. And I am okay with that. I realize that not every road is a smooth road, and that as a follower of Christ, there are going to be potsherds scattered in front of me, trying to cut my feet.

For me, the joy, the blessing, is able to spend time with people of all stripes and ages and share the good news and teach the wonderful sport of Tae Kwon Do in a safe, non-threatening environment.

I like to hear the laughter of children as I tell them that the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to them. (Matt.19:14)

To finish the race, to finish the good fight, we must always remember:

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, whohave been called according to his purpose.  For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?  He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?  As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8: 28-39 NIV).

Amen!

    Hey Gary and Carrie,
    Just wanted to check out your website, and my first response is “wow” You have an awesome ministry going on at the church and I just want to commend you for your love of God and the strength He has given you to speak His words in defense of this passion to reach out to those kids that come out. God Bless you and your work. IN HIM, Pat Dickie
